We strive to create a high quality, sharp graphics. To do this we require your artwork in a format that is suitable to our engraving equipment.
The acceptable file formats are:
Corel Draw (.CDR)
.EPS (Vector artwork)
.PDF (Vector artwork)
Artwork must be vector based images (drawings) as opposed to raster based (bitmaps/jpeg’s) images. While the shape and color of a bitmap image appears smooth, when viewed up close you can see the tiny individual squares and pixels that make up the image. Vector drawings are made up of points, consisting of smooth lines and defined colors, the resolution can be scaled up & down. When viewed up close or from a distance, vector drawings appear as smooth clean lines and edges. The following diagram illustrates the difference between vector and raster based images:
For artwork that does not meet the above specifications and requires re-working, scanning or manipulation by our technicians, an artwork charge may apply. Artwork that will need redesigning for engraving purposes include:
Bitmap images – jpg, gif, tiff
Pen & pencil sketches
Business cards, letterheads, faxes, photocopies
